Being high is one of the most pleasant sensations available to mankind. Every day is Saturday. It is to be like a child; to perceive events with clarity; to look into the gates of paradise; to completely enjoy whatever you might be doing; to smile so hard that your jaw muscles get tired. Being high is to laugh at the silliest things; to understand things that have seemed absurd before; to have the aloofness of a cat; to afford a kinship with God. To be intoxicated with marijuana makes every superlative seem within your grasp. Being high makes life seem terribly good. Being high is simply grand.

VNDTA is pleased to announce our newest release “Maryjane” on one of the most relaxing, funny, hungry, and paranoid days of the year. In the words of Wu Tang, “Roll that shit, light that shit, smoke it.” Nuff said go cop yourself one.

“Advertisements makes us want more, but what we end up we love less.” We’re not fans of advertisement. That’s one of reason we are so reluctant to release promotional ads. We want people to buy VNDTA because they like it. We want other people to buy VNDTA because of word of mouth. We aren’t robots, we can’t make up scripts and get “models” to pretend to like our clothes. We want real people that believe in the brand and support the brand to showcase the brand; Point being we hate advertising.

Another shoot, now with Ed Gutter.

This is a different kind of “Head Start.”

It all ends on the floor of a video shoot. Tired, happy, and most of all accomplished.

Tuesday I was South Central bound were I met up with Ed Gutter to witness art in the making. As I eagerly watched Ed paint over his past work. I saw a kid across the street were a junior high break was in progress. “Hey why are you painting over that piece!” he screamed over the fence. “Why are you painting over that piece!” Kept repeating over and over again. So at that moment I decided to go over and talked to him from the other side of the fence. “That was his piece, now he wants to do another one.” I said to the kid. “That was a sick ass piece” he replied followed by “Hey can you get paid for doing that?” “Yeah you can” I responded.” Man, I want to do that. I have my own crew, it’s not a gang or anything like that, we just like to tag”. “Well kid if you really want it, just keep at it and don’t let anything stop you”. After that short conversation the kid ran off to class. Minutes later I saw him with his friend sitting behind the class building facing us. He was moving his hand emulating Ed Gutters hand control of the can. At that moment a teacher comes out of the class building and yells at them, she tells them to wait there. As she steps inside the classroom the kids ran off. The boy skipped class to take another class in something he really wanted to do as a living. I hope that kid sticks to his goal. Sort of reminded me of all of us here at VNDTA, who knew we could feed ourselves from our creativity. It was a Perfect Sunday on a Tuesday.

I wish I could voice out to everyone what this shirt really means and the process it went through. I planned to shoot a mini documentary on it, but as a one man camera crew it became a daunting task. A collaboration composed from the feelings that burn in each and every one of us. This is not about VNDTA. It’s not about CULT. It’s not about the people behind these brands. This shirt is about you, me, us, we as a people. We all go through trials and tribulations. During those times the memory of the good times, or the pursuit of the good times is what keeps us going. Wether you know or not you are in the Good Times Crew.

We can go through the analytical stuff, but I think I got one of my points across.

This is probably why It became hard for me to write the script to the short documentary because it goes beyond just me.
